Lifting/Conditioning
Please make sure any lifting program that you do is age appropriate.
In my opinion --
Elementary students should only do simple exercises such as sit-ups, pull-ups, and push-ups. They can do agility and speed drills without risk of injury. There are agility drill on the "agilty" page. Jump rope workouts would also be a good exercise for elementary players.
Middle School students should be determined by maturity level. Correct form is very important for injury prevention. If players do not have proper instruction on lifting technique, they should only do body weight exercises.
High School students can lift with proper form. If equipment is not available or if players have not be taught proper form, a body weight workout will still show strength improvements.
Always lift safely. Use proper form and have a spotter. If you do not know how to do a lift -- do not do it until you know how!
